Terms of Use
Short version: Clause5 is AI-assisted welding decision support. Use it to look up, compare, and document requirements, but do not treat any output as signed engineering judgment, inspection acceptance, WPS/PQR qualification, code approval, or production release.
1. Using Clause5
Clause5 provides welding calculators, reference pages, Flux Q&A, drawing-review tools, and related workflow aids. You may use the site for lawful engineering, fabrication, inspection, training, and research workflows.
2. Decision support, not signing authority
Clause5 outputs can support standards lookup, review, comparison, and documentation workflows. Final decisions remain with the responsible CWI, welding engineer, PE/EOR, inspector, fabricator, owner, or authority having jurisdiction.
Before production, acceptance, certification, or load-bearing use, verify outputs against the governing standard edition, project specifications, contract documents, approved WPS/PQR package, and applicable authority interpretations.
3. AI and reference-output limitations
Flux and drawing-review features may contain errors, omissions, stale edition assumptions, image-reading mistakes, or incomplete context. Uploaded drawings may be blurry, partial, superseded, or missing notes that affect the answer. Clause5 does not replace professional review.
4. User content and uploads
You keep ownership of files, prompts, drawings, and other content you submit. By submitting content, you give Clause5 permission to process it, transmit it to service providers, generate outputs, troubleshoot failures, and improve reliability of the service.
Do not upload content unless you have the right to use it with an online analysis tool. Do not upload export-controlled, classified, highly confidential, or third-party-restricted material unless your organization has approved that use.
5. Acceptable use
- Do not attack, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or bypass limits on the service.
- Do not use Clause5 to create unsafe, illegal, misleading, or fraudulent documentation.
- Do not submit prompts or files intended to extract private standards data, secrets, system instructions, or other protected internals.
6. No warranty
Clause5 is provided as is and as available. We do not promise that every answer is correct, complete, current, available, or suitable for a particular project or jurisdiction.
7. Liability limit
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Clause5 is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost-profit damages. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the service is to stop using it. For any paid service introduced later, liability will be capped at the amount paid for that service in the prior 12 months unless a signed agreement says otherwise.
8. Changes
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date above shows the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
